The Montessori Method

Empowering Children To Learn

The Montessori Method is a unique teaching approach that prepares children to be curious, lifelong learners, as well as good citizens, future innovators, and able leaders. Our classroom is quite different than a typical preschool environment. Our emphasis on self-guided work and individual instruction ensures that kids are always engaged and challenged at the appropriate level, unlike the one-size-fits-all approach of a traditional preschool.

Self-guided work
Students choose their own activities each day, with guidance from their teacher. By harnessing their enthusiasm, they improve their ability to concentrate while feeling accomplishment and building confidence. Surprisingly, this doesn't create chaos, because students are deeply engaged in their work and given clear boundaries by their teachers.

Individual Instruction
Each child is at a different point on a unique path. Teachers work with each student individually, asking questions and providing assistance as needed, while allowing each child to discover the solutions to problems at their own pace.

Mixed-age classrooms
Our classroom has a range of ages from 3-5 years old. Older children help younger children, reinforcing their knowledge and building leadership skills. Younger children learn from the modeled behavior of the older children. This fosters a sense of community, collaboration and respect.

Practical knowledge and life skills
Students have tangible hands-on learning experiences within language, math, science, geography and the arts. Sensorial learning and the development of fine motor skills helps children interact with the world more effectively. Personal responsibility is emphasized through cleaning and organizing.
